Perfect Week in Medellin: 7 Best Daytime Experiences

Medellin is an amazing place to visit. There are a variety of things to do, the valley is beautiful, the people are wonderful and you can feel the energy of a city in rebirth. If you are lucky enough to have a week there, this is how I would suggest a perfect week.

Comuna 13

One of the great experiences of Medellin is visiting the Comuna 13 neighborhood.  It has beautiful murals throughout the area and wonderful views of the city. Stop here for a good lunch, enjoy the paintings, get a feel for the city and learn the history of how this neighborhood, once the most dangerous in the world was reborn.      For more details on Comuna 13 click here Comuna 13

City Tour

Go downtown to see the statutes at Botero Plaza and the Museum of Antioquia, then wander to the oldest church and surrounding parks and take in some shopping and the city vibe.  For more info on the City Center click here Medellin City Center.

Museums

Medellin has a vibrant art scene, these are the must see 4 museums for anyone who appreciates art.   For more details click here Best Museums in Medellin.

Guatape

The best day trip from Medellin, about 2 hours away. Scenic ride which takes you to the Rock of Penol for fantastic vistas and to the lovely and colorful town of Guatape.  For more information click here Guatape and Penol Rock

Paragliding

For the best view of Medellin take to the sky!   Very relaxing and safe, highly recommend for an experience of a lifetime. For information click here Medellin Paragliding.

Park Arvi

Take the cable car from the middle of the City up to Park Arvi for amazing views and to get to see some of Medellin nature and get some fresh air in.   For information click here Park Arvi and the Medellin Cable Car.

Soccer Game

Take in one of the rowdy soccer matches at Atanasio Girardot Stadium. An intense experience a part of the Medellin fabric. For information click here Medellin Soccer Game.

Conclusion

Medellin is one of top cities in the world to visit.  It is vibrant, interesting and on the move. Thankfully after years of violence it is open again to the world.  If you have one week to spend this guide is a great way to enjoy diverse aspects, get to know the city, its culture and history and enjoy.  If you have more time or want to switch out one of the activities I would also suggest a relaxing horse ride in the Medellin Hills see here Medellin Horseback Riding or schedule a game of Colombia’s Nation Sport called Tejo (sort of like Bocce Ball with small explosives)- see here Tejo . I hope you have a great time and please let us know your thoughts and any tips our places you like.  Also if you would like to pair these great days with great nights see here our guides to Restaurants and Nightlife and Bars.  All the best!     Please leave a comment below.    For the essential information to get in and out of Medellin; Covid restrictions, visa’s, airlines, electricity, etc, see here: Medellin What you need to know to get in and out.

FYI, the tour guide was definitely very resourceful and accommodating. Highly recommend. He spoke English, was very knowledgeable about the area and had a nice and comfortable SUV.
