Surprisingly, it was not easy to find live music venues in Medellin but I was able to search them out eventually. Due to the pandemic many places are only open or only have music on the weekend now.
Cantina La 70
For the full on experience head to Cantina La 70 which normally host three different headliners singing Colombian or South American music. There is a small cover charge. I was able to get by with my broken Spanish and the staff was very nice but could be difficult if you don’t speak any Spanish. (Cra. 70 #44B-76)
Alambique
Great restaurant with live Jazz on Tuesdays and Saturday. Its in the Poblado neighborhood so its convenient to get to although its a little hard to find due to the nondescript door and sign (see below). The outside and the 1st floor inside under the restaurant do not look very nice, but once you go up the stairs its a lovely restaurant with excellent food. (Calle 10 #43a-30)
Bonhomia Restaurant
Another great restaurant with live music is Bonhomia which is an nice outdoor restaurant known for their pork and oven fire pizza. This place usually has live music from Thursday through the weekend. They also have Flamenco on the last Sunday of the month. (Cra. 37 #8-53)
The Charlee Lifestyle Hotel
The Charlee Hotel has traditional Colombian music on Thursday at their upscale restaurant, Lucia. (Cl.9a #37-16)
Pub Rock
For the hard rock fans, there is Pub Rock near Park Lleras. its a large venue although it gets packed so good to book ahead. It is only open, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. (Av. 33 #78-121)
La Octava Bar
Funky cocktail bar which normally has a DJ, but also has live music on Thursdays.(Calle 8 37a 49)
Conclusion
I am a big live music fan so I was happy to find these places for live music and the music schedules but it was not easy (and I asked around!). So if you find any venues or if the schedules change, please let us know. Thank you and if you go to one of these places, please let us know how it was, Happy listening 🙂
Where is the best bar for Irish Music in Medellin?
Best Irish Bar is Patricks Pub next to Park Lleras, unfortunately no live music there now, will get them to work on that!
